Confetti Silks Carded Art Batt 30g

Confetti Silks - Carded Art Batts - wool, alpaca and mohair with some confetti style sari silks snipped bits and pieces! 

Our carded art batts have been handmade on our drum carder.   They are made from our own various types of hand dyed wools and fibres.  This batt contains some wool, alpaca and mohair, but the star of the show is the snipped tiny bits of sari silks from our sari silk range!

Reminiscent of confetti, and dried flowers, our new confetti carded batt is a dream!

The pieces of the silks included in the batts are trapped between the layers of fibres, but are loose and not fully blended into the batt, so you may find you have a few bits fall out, which you can use directly in your makes.  It does take a little more work to needle felt - the pieces of silk are varying sizes, from tiny threads to small squares etc, so the larger pieces do need to be 'poked' into you make with a little more care so you don't snap needles.. 

Once you get the habit of using it, you'll find you can take pieces from one part of the batt and add to the right spot on your make - included in the photos (but not for sale!) is an example of a needle felted heart so you can see how the batt looks once something is created from them!  

Each batt is entirely unique, although the colourways as the same, so there will be variations within each colourway too, ensuring that each individual batt is truly one of a kind!

Are you a spinner?  Our batts can be used to spin from, and you can draft directly from the batt to either add to the fibre you are using, or to use as a standalone mix to create a truly unique yarn!

Do you needle felt?   Our batts have been lightly carded, which means the fibres are a little more jumbled than if the batt had been carded mutiple times - this is deliberate as jumbled fibres felt together really well!  You can just pull sections of the batt to use in your felting

Are you a wet felter?  Our batts can be unrooled and unfolded, and can be felted as they are, or you can pick sections to add into your wet felting

The fibres in our art batts are a combination of fibres from our local mill, with our own mohair and hand dyed wools added in to create these beautiful, lofty art batts!
